PricePlease: Price Comparison Platform, Sri Lanka

The Challenge

Sri Lankan shoppers had no single place to compare prices for phones, laptops and gadgets. They had to open dozens of retailer sites and still couldn't tell where the real deal was. The brief: bring live prices from dozens of retailers into one place and keep them accurate at scale.

Overview

PricePlease is a live price comparison platform for Sri Lanka, tracking thousands of products across 48 retailers with prices refreshed daily. An automated scraping and normalisation pipeline keeps the data current, so shoppers search once, compare at a glance and buy at the lowest price, while SEO-optimised product and category pages are built to rank for buying searches.

The Solution

PricePlease runs on a Next.js and Tailwind CSS front end with a Python Flask back end. A scraping pipeline built with Firecrawl collects listings from Sri Lankan retailers every day, and a normalisation step matches the same product across stores so prices can be compared like for like.

Shoppers search once and see every store's price for a phone, tablet, MacBook or smart watch on one page, with the lowest price first. They can set a price drop alert, read verified reviews from people who bought through the site, and browse by brand or category, on product and category pages built to rank for buying searches.
